JOB TITLE: DISPATCH CO-ORDINATOR
Department: Dispatch
Location: Gwyndy Quarry, Llandrygarn, Anglesey. LL71 7AW
Reports to: Dispatch Manager
Job Type: Full Time Basis (may be required to work from different company sites by agreement with the line manager.)
This position is advertised on the above basis, as to meet the growing demand for our products and services, we are expanding our team to meet our customer requirements.
Summary:
The Dispatch Coordinator is responsible for assisting central shipping in planning, coordinating, and overseeing the dispatch of products and services, vehicles, and goods to various destinations while ensuring efficient and cost-effective scheduling, timely response, and adherence to safety and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Dispatch Operations:
- Receive and process dispatch requests from clients, customers, or internal departments.
- Liaise with clients, customers, or the internal department on deliveries.
- Assist Dispatch Manager / Assistant Manager / Central shipping in assigning resources (e.g., drivers, vehicles) to fulfil dispatch requests effectively.
- Monitor real-time progress and location of dispatched units and adjust schedules as needed with central shipping.
2. Crusher Operations:
- Monitor aggregate crusher operation remotely from the dispatch office to ensure the efficient and smooth aggregate production.
- Monitor and adjust the equipment remotely from the dispatch office to ensure it operates efficiently and safely.
- Use the automated system to clear any blockages.
- Carry out routine daily inspections on the crusher.
- Carry out essential routine and reactive housekeeping duties on the crusher.
3. Communication:
- Maintain constant communication with dispatched personnel to provide instructions, updates, and support.
- Serve as the central point of contact for all communication related to dispatch operations.
- Handle inquiries, emergencies, and requests from clients, customers, or field staff.
4. Scheduling and planning:
- Follow instructions provided through shipping schedules created by central shipping office for dispatch, which will have been created based on factors such as availability, proximity, urgency, and customer requirements.
- Plan optimal routes for dispatched vehicles or personnel to minimise travel time and costs.
- Consider factors like traffic conditions, weather, and client preferences when planning routes.
5. Documentation:
- Prepare and maintain accurate dispatch records, including logs, reports, and incident documentation.
- Ensure that all necessary paperwork is for dispatch activities.

Essential Criteria:
- Must have a full UK driving license as travel between sites or suppliers may be required.
Training and CPD
Everyone must undertake training that has been identified for their role by the company.
You will be required to familiarise yourself with colleague roles to provide complementary cover as instructed by your line manager.
You will be required to perform any reasonable request by your line manager.
Education and Preferred Qualification:
- GCSE or equivalent
- Previous experience in dispatch coordination or a related field would be preferred, but not essential.
Experience:
- Able to demonstrate a minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role would be preferred, but not essential.
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and adapt to changing circumstances.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong organisational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
Working Conditions:
The Quarry Operative typically works on company sites, exposure to outdoor and industrial environments and travel is required. The candidate must be prepared to work in varying weather conditions and will be required to always wear personal protective equipment.
They will also be required to work nights, weekends, or irregular hours to meet the customer demands, which will be on an ad hoc basis as required.
Physical Requirements:
Physical fitness to walk, climb and navigate uneven terrain.
Ability to lift heavy objects and work in physically demanding conditions.
Stamina and endurance for long shifts.
Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions.
Salary:
Salary range 32,000 – 35,000 per annum, depending on hours.
